Sadly Dad passed away in late 2003 after a period of illness, and was undeniably the patriarch of the Bryer family. He was a very proud, astute and intelligent man who enjoyed stimulating conversations and a good debate in world affairs.
Dad would be the first to admit that he did not tolerate fools, but would be the first to help those who showed an interest in self improvement. Until illness intervened, Dad dedicated 30 years of his life helping others in the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association by doing what he loved the most educating the public in boating safety.
He will be sadly missed by all that knew him. I personally will miss having those long conversations and debates, trying to trip-up that analytical, witty, and logical mind. I never did succeed even in his declining years.
I will forever miss the friendship and that fatherly advice I so often depended on.
